Pastel Spring Wreath

I love this time of year, I love Easter and I love all the bright colors that come with spring. I was shopping my local Target and found this adorable yarn wreath.
I forgot to take a picture of the wreath by itself, with just the yarn. I knew I had to have it when I saw it. It was $12.00 and I could have made one myself but I knew I would spend that much buying all of the different yarns so I purchased it.
It was a smaller wreath than I usually use so I decided to cut some burlap strips to add to the back. I hot glued them and made small pleats to give it a little fullness.
Do you know the trick to cutting burlap straight? Simply pull a string all the way across where you want to cut and it will give you a nice straight line to cut.
I made some flowers out of satin fabric. I used about 10 layers to get a really full flower and before I burn the edges I cut little slits in the circle. It makes them curl up and be more 3 dimensional.
Here's another trick I always use a glue stick to hold down anything that has hot glue. I won't burn my fingers and the glue stick doesn't stick to the fabric.
I love all the texture to this wreath, the yarn, the burlap and then the contrast with the satin fabric flowers.

I just had the outside of the house painted so everything looks so nice and clean. I'm not sure I will get any other decorations up for spring this year but that's ok this brightens up the entrance and makes me happy.

Welcome to the front porch!

So I am lucky I have this nice porch that is covered and pretty much protected from the elements, couple that with my desire to decorate anything I can get my hands on and you have my little front porch vignette!
As soon as it warmed up I changed it from winter to pre-spring but it was still to early for bunnies so I made a few adjustments.
I love this! I bought this little basket at Goodwill for a buck and hit it with some spray paint cause it was a ugly peachy pink and put in some fake greenery from the Hob Lob and nestled in a little bird house.
I picked this birdhouse up at Target in the $1 bin and painted some little polka dots on it.
I think I am beginning to have a thing for bunnies! Isn't this guy just the cutest!
Another Goodwill basket and these carrots are from Pier One, I love carrot decorations!
Can't you just see Peter Rabbit carrying this wagon?
Goodwill chair accessorized!
Love!
Fell in love with these when I saw them too! Do you have a place you can decorate outside? Mine even survived the hale storm last night!

Hippity Hoppity you know what is on it's way!

I have to admit my favorite time to decorate is for Easter. I don't know what it is, I love the colors, I bring in alot of lighter, softer colors and of course the change in the weather makes me want to do something different. Plus it isn't all the work that Christmas decor is.  A couple of tabletops and I'm good! You may remember I made this art for Christmas. I changed out the papers for spring, love!!!
This tree looks good enough to eat, right??? I fell in love with this at Hobby Lobby last year, grabbed it and came home and "planted it" in this little pot that I bought and spray painted from Goodwill. The little bunny with the wagon is very special to me. I painted this 30 years ago when my first son was born. It has his name on an egg, back when there was only one child in the family. :)
And this sweet foil wrapped bunny reminds me of Easter morning, always had a chocolate covered bunny in my basket.
This has to be at the top of my fav flower list. I wish I had some dried in pink.
Pure sweetness, I have a thing for birds!!!
And here is my entry table.
I gave you a sneak peak of part of it here.
I made a little basket for this adorable bunny, sorry about the glare.
Here he is getting some fresh air with the Goodwill cloche gone.
Added a little pink to an arrangement I already had. Can you see what is hiding in there?
Yep, another little bunny!
And some more yummy looking eggs. These little bowls were actually 2 pieces, I glued them together, a small bowl and votive holder, perfect for my need!
And of course a cross to remind of the true meaning of the season.
Next up my front porch. Have you got your Easter decor out yet? What's your favorite holiday to decorate for?

Spring Vignette

Well I finally put out some of my spring/Easter decor. I love to decorate for spring, love the colors and they work in my house really well.
If you come to my blog often you have seen this table. This is my space I decorate instead of my mantle. My mantle is in our man cave, so spring decor just doesn't work there.

Can you tell which flowers are real?
If you guessed the yellow roses you are right. I love these little mini roses.
This little bunny is so sweet, he looks shy.
Isn't he sweet? I scored him at Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago.
And this little guy is new, I had to have him.
Eggs nesting in in some shredded newpaper.
Another little fake plant. You can find some really real looking plants these days.
Here is a final look at it all together. Do you have a special place that you decorate in your home?

Potting Bench

Several years ago my husband bought me this potting bench.
Unfortunately it had become storage on our back porch to the point that I couldn't use it and it was nothing more than an eyesore (to me). You see the back yard belongs to my husband for all of his "collections". I happened to mention that I would love to have my bench over to the side yard so that I could use it for planting this year. Today he woke up and said today is the day and began to clean it up!!! Hallelujah! I think I heard the angels sing!
I didn't get out there soon enough to get a before picture, it was awful! This is just the stuff he took off that he didn't throw away! I have to tell you I was so excited to get it back AND I had just purchased a few spring flowers the other day. And then I  thought blog post, blog post! And then I'm thinking of all that I can do to make it something I can put on here. One minute I am cleaning house and the next playing with my potting supplies. So much more fun!
Isn't it cute?
I love my flowers in an old rusty lunch box.
It has this cool little tub where you can put dirt.
But then when you don't need the dirt you put the wooden lid back on top of it.
Lots of storage on the bottom.
And even more on top with drawers and shelves.
I love this old rusted out lantern.
I've had this little out house forever, it's just so cute, can you say that about an out house?
This bird house I painted years ago back in my Mary Englebreit days. ( I adore her!)
This is an old lounge chair of my husbands. I started having him bring over a few of his cool pieces for my photo shoot. Now I am thinking put a little pillow in there and it's the perfect place for me to sit and relax after planting.
Another one of his things, and old tractor seat on a base. Rust =love!
So now I have my own little space in our backyard, thank you honey! I suggested some other "things" we could do in the back yard and he reminded me Rome wasn't built in a day! sigh! So what are you doing to get ready for spring?
