A glamorus bedroom

When you create a room do you start with one thing that sets the tone for the whole room? I usually find that works well for me. When we were creating Macy's momma's bedroom we had an idea of a direction we were going in. I have no idea where she got this picture but one day she sent it to me and said this is what I want my bedroom to look like or to have this feel.
She loved the grey paint of the room and the neutral pallet. She had furniture that she planned to use for her new house. All we had to do was find everything else!
I have to say when we found this bedding, particularly this Euro pillows we got really excited. It's starting to have that same feel as the inspiration room. This black pillow was made from a little black dress bought on clearance, it turned out really cute!
Here is a full pic of the bed. I want to show you a close up of the detail in the bed.
So when MM wanted to paint the room grey I thought it was a great idea, the glaze on this furniture looked grey.
You saw this pic before when I showed it on my blog. The rack in the corner is going to change to a chair that is being reupholstered right now.
Here is the other side of the dresser. Again you can see the wood work. That blue candle holder was a lamp that we painted and glazed and added candles to. And look at baby Macy, she is so sweet! She is a little older now. Sweetness!

Here is the other dresser. Right next to it is a door that leads to the backyard, very nice! The black basket was green and you guessed it we spray painted it, going to add some fabric balls to it.

This little vignette is so sweet. These candle sticks were black and we spray painted them gun metal silver and this little lady we bought at Ross for 6.99, I added a little flourish to her with my Silhouette.
This was an old vase that we covered with pages from an old book. These sticks came with the sparkle on them, just love them!
Ok, ignore the cord. Just a little closer look, love this flower!
This is as you enter the room. We need to add a picture, just trying to get everything done.
This is a little arrangement we made with some feathers and an oh so ugly garish gold pot from Goodwill spray painted with that same gun metal paint.Macy's daddy is going to take care of the ugly black cords hanging down from the big flat screen tv. Sorry no pic of that!

And here is a sweet little reminder for them as they go to bed at night. Be sure to check back to see the kitchen, den, entry and other parts of the house.
So does her room look just like this picture... no but it has the feel. The same neutral palette. If you notice we have the texture in the rug, throw & pillow. The furniture isn't as ornate as this one but it has the carving. We don't have any zebra print in ours.... yet! We still have plans to make a bench for the end of the bed, may be the perfect place to put some. So what do you think? Are you a monochromatic person or do you prefer color?

Hi Laura,
I really like your room redo. You didn't miss a detail! The color palette is just beautiful. I think I'm a color person. I like pictures I see of monochromatic rooms but I just can't pull it off in my house.
Have a great week.

I need to have the perfect balance between serenity and lots of color. Go figure.

This looks beautiful. I love that you're going to put fabric balls in that basket. No bedroom is complete without balls.

Wow, great room, love the color and the extra special touches. My heart pillows are sewn from felted (washed and dried in hot) sweaters, no ravelling at all.

Awesome -- I love every little inch of this room. Love the "Always Kiss Me Goodnight" sign. I painted that quote on a sign, too. Love the bedding and headboard. Great job!

Oh my word, this room is so pretty. I like the inspiration room, however I think yours is so peaceful and elegant looking. Great job.

You asked about the silver. I don't think most of it is anything but silverplate, however that is fine with me. If it is really tarnished, you can bet it is silver, but it usually cleans up perfect. Hope you find some, it is so fun. Hugs, Marty
