Ready set go!

You may have noticed that I haven't been on here much lately. Lots of changes in my life! I quit my job, yep I did. I have another one but it will be less hours and less responsibility. It's a good thing. But what's really good is that I have decided to jump in the ring and try to make a go of a business. I have wanted to do this for YEARS people, YEARS! But I had 4 children and have always worked outside of the home at least a little and just never found the time. Well, now the last of my 4 babies is the only one home and so I have so much time on my hands that they are begging me to do something so.... here it goes! I decided at the last minute to sign up for this really great fall craft show so I have been really busy this weekend. I have 27 more days to get ready!!! Here is one of the things I've put together, what do you think?
I'm loving it, the hard part about this is not keeping this stuff for myself! I'll show some more pics of what is in the works soon.

Sharing Lamp love

Hi my name is Laura and I have a blog called  Ms Smartie Pants. I'm excited to be here while Courtney is away on vacation! Oh how I would love to be at the beach right now! Today I want to share a bit of an obsession of mine.  I LOVE lamps! And I have a hard time walking past them and not buy one.... even if I have NO need for one! I'm willing to start a 12 step if there are others out there who are like me, just let me know. I don't know what it is, my mom loved lamps, maybe she passed this LOVE on to me, that's it, it's in my genes! Anyway, as if it were not enough to LOVE all the beautiful lamps out there I also love to remake and old lamp or turn a really cool vase into a lamp. Check out some of the evidence of such love...
I made this lamp out of a vase from Ross, it was less than 10.00 for the vase and I got the lampshade at a garage sale for 1.00!
This is another one I made out of a candle holder, a little tea light fits in the base but I turned it into a lamp.
Perfect little light for my porch.
This is a tiny little lamp I bought for 3.00 at Goodwill and I covered the lampshade in ribbon. Simple and I love the white glass!

Sometimes all you need to do is give a lampshade a little personality and it makes all the difference in the lamp.

This transformation is HUGE, the before was simply ugly! This was a freebee, can't beat that!
See what I mean it was an ugly blue and gold lamp. I don't even want to see the room that this was in!
And this ugly thing came from Goodwill, I think it was 5.00 for 2 of them. The ugly thing already had a makeover before I purchased it. I don't know if you can tell but they glued trim to the base and spray painted over it. Yep simply UGLY!
She cleaned up really well tho, didn't she???
Here's another one I made from a vase. Yes I like blue lamps!
This one is from Napa Style. It's on my wish list to make some day!
So are your lamp crazy too? Can one have too many lamps??? Maybe my lamp love is ok, I will just think of myself as the UGLY lamp rescue person, yeah that's it, no lamp is too ugly to be transformed!

Before and After Bed

I thought I would join the Before and After Party that Mrs. Thrify Decor Chick chick is hosting!
What is this up ask??? It's going to be a bed. My .little niece was moving up to a big girls bed so we decided to make her one. The base would have worked but we wanted ours to be grand. The great thing is this base has built in storage. We picked up a couple of old doors at a flea market for 20.00 bucks each and cut one in half. My brother in law did some magic....
And here is what we ended up with. Amazing what a little paint and fabric can do right???
These sweet little pillows came out sooo cute! We bought the quilt.... along with 20 others that were returned. To check out the whole room look here.    It is an adorable room! And guess what? My niece is expecting another baby, I CAN'T WAIT to see what we are gonna do!
