It is HOT!!! I live in North Texas and we are having record breaking temps and so when I say it's hot I mean it's hot! The other night I was out at 12:30 am and it was 93!!! Did I say it's hot? It is just miserable!!! So I have been looking for water, a lake, a stream, a beach, I WISH!!! I live about 12 hours from the coast and no time or plans to go. I thought a little beach decorating might help. If only....sigh...
Now everyday as I enter I reminded of the beach. :)
I made this beach sign last year and hung it above my buffet. You can check it out here and see how to make one yourself.
This jar sitting on and upside down candle stick has sand and treasures I found when I went to the beach last year.
I LOVE this little thing. I actually have a couple of them with different kinds of shells. I think I got them at Home Goods.
More treasures we have found on beaches. This fun piece of beach wood is one of my favorites, it looks like a birds head.
And a lampshade with a little added burlap ribbon.
And I moved my paper pinwheels to the entry table. They are playful and fill in the space nicely. So are you going to the beach this year? If not, how do you stay cool???

A girl can dream, right? Still sweating, but at least you have something cute to look at ;)
(14 days in a row and and counting of 100 degrees+.....DYING)
It's not summer - we are having the same weather all year round - and reading you blog in air con room keep me cool! Love you - PC
I love that beach access sign.
I haven't been to TX to see my dad in a few years beause he usually comes to TN, but I know when I was there the last time it was so hot and the air was just still. No movement...whew...I don't think I am looking forward to the weather next week at all. Air conditioning is a good thing.
I was going to say I like the lamp shade, and I do, but I ALSO love the blue glass with the bird, the pinwheel flowers and the sign!! Feels like a beach to me.
darling~
I hear you! It's hot here in Alabama too!! Love your beachy theme! Good idea! The sign is fabulous! Visiting from WUW!!
I am reading this from Ventura, CA. I ran on the beach this morning. I wish I could send you (and my cousin in Plano) some of my weather...Love what you did in your home, it's very "Ventura".
That beach sign is too much fun! I love the blues and the touch of burlap!
Everything looks so awesome! :)
Laura I just love your beach sign! Ahh, if only the beach were "just ahead". It's always so fun to bring a little beach decor into the home. It just puts you in a good mood and makes you think of summer.
Thanks so much for the sweet comment on my blog. It's always fun to see new faces!
