Valentine Wreath Giveaway!!!!

Welcome to my first GIVEAWAY!!!

I am so excited to offer this Valentine wreath as a giveaway, I just LOVE it and am going to have to make one to keep for myself. I made this out of a wool full length coat I got at Goodwill half price. The coat was intended to for stockings but I ran out of time, I had an even better idea for a Valentine wreath. Actually while out shopping at Christmas I saw a really cute flower on a necklace and that sparked an idea. I'm going to share with you how to make it BUT... maybe you won't have to if you win one.

So if you want to win this wreath simply follow the suggestions below. Goodluck!
1. Become a follower, if you aren't already, easy peasy right!
2. Comment on any other project in my archives, it can be any post.
3. Put my button on your blog or facebook and tell people to come check out my blog.
Please leave a comment on this post for each thing you do and be sure to leave your email address. The giveaway ends on Sunday, January 23rd. I will announce the winner by 4:00pm.  Now get busy you got show some love, tis the season right??? This giveaway is closed!

Ok, just in the case you don't win the wreath here is a tutorial to show you how to make your own. As I said I used a red wool coat but you can use whatever fabric you have, obviously the thicker the better.
I suppose there are alot of people out there that simply see a red wool coat when they look at this and truly that is understandable but I see fabric, lots of fabric and do I have to tell you that makes me such a happy girl.
Then I see this, and I know it's half price on pink tags day and I get even more excited because that is alot of wool fabric for 5.00!!! As I mentioned you could do this with lots of fabric but I love the idea of using something old as something new and it really is hard to beat the price!
The first thing I did is started cutting the coat apart and cutting 2 inch squares, tons of them, gobs of them, sorry I didn't count them.
Then I took my small whole punch and punched a whole in each and every one of the squares. Ummm this project is a bit monotonous but oh so worth it!
I took a coat hanger and shaped it into a heart. Then simply started to feed all the squares onto the wire. (pardon this picture, I need a new camera, simple fact , most of these have been taken outside at least until it got dark)

Once the wire was packed full I bent the wire with some pliers Then I dabbed a little hot glue on the wool squares so that you can't see the wire.

Another great find, it was a 1.50. A Ralph Lauren coat, what do you think Ralph would say about this. It was suppose to be the cuff on the stockings, but... well you already know that story.
I simply cut a circle, no pattern, just eyeball it, I promise it will be fine. See those little pearl things in the back. I bought a bunch of those after Christmas for a dime I think. I wish I had found more.

Just start cutting like a snake or a spiral. Once you cut it you will wind it back up using the center part as the middle of your flower. Tuck the tail in behind your flower. I forgot to take a pic of this part but I glued the tail and then cut a circle the size of my flower, covered it with glue and laid the flower on it. I then glued in the pearl thingy, technical term.
These are so sweet! I also added a little satin ribbon for some shine. I cut the ends in a dovetail because it reminds me of bow and arrow for Valentine's.
Here is one final look. I don't think the pictures do it justice. Oh and in case you are wondering it is about a foot tall. So be sure to try to win one and if you create one of your own and come back and show me how it turned out!

A little something I had a part in creating!

Today's post is a little different than anything else I have done. It's my baby girl! Please know that I am not bragging, that isn't really my style, I'm just so proud of her. She picked up a guitar last April and has not put it down. This is the 3rd song she has written. I hope you enjoy...oh and by the way, that first little thing she says, replace it with goof ball!

A New Home Welcome!

So I have shown you some of Macy's momma's house that we have been working on I thought today I would start at the beginning, the outside and bring you through the front door. But before I do I have to say that this house is a group project. I haven't done this by myself. My sister and niece and I have been working on this for months, shopping, dreaming, planning, blogging. It has been a blast and we aren't even done yet! Ok, now on to the house.
Nice, huh??? It is set in a beautiful setting in the piney woods of East Texas. (Yard will come in the spring, but ummm, I won't be helping with that part, not my thing!)
Is this what they mean by "a dog's life"? They have all the woods and even a lake to jump in, lucky dogs! I wish the shadow had not been on the door, it is really pretty, knarly and worm eaten, in the best kind of way!
This is what you see when you enter. Great find at the Goodwill, the dresser I mean. We scored this for 75.00. Originally we were going to paint it but it is in the best shape so we left it as is.

And as you step in you see this down the hallway. Kinda difficult to get a picture down the hallway. It's just MDF edges painted brown and scrapbook papers glued on with spray adhesive and then added letters using my Silhouette.
Looking back into the entry. This little pillow was one of the first things Macy's momma bought. I think it's from Target. She loved it and said she wanted it to be the inspiration for her home.

Bad shot but here is a close up of it. Tans, creams and greys on a blue background. Beautiful!!!

Look at this molding, pitter patter, isn't it amazing!
This is what you see straight ahead from the entry. I love stone and this fireplace is soooo pretty! I love that chunk of wood and the way they did the stone to hold it up.
So here it is up close and personal. But wait I have to show you these finial thingies.

These things are so cool, again a Goodwill score. They were are brass. We sprayed them with ORB (Oil Rubbed Bronze) spray paint. I think they were from a church and held candles. They screw apart so you can adjust the height and make them look totally different. Such a find and for 5.95 I think. Yep you heard me right! We bought four of them. I have to tell you we went to their local Goodwill and hit this amazing, gigantic sale. We had no idea what was going on and we went in and saw the sale sign. There were people EVERYWHERE and they were lined up in the back waiting to see what was coming out. They were bringing merchandise out every hour. We bought 3 carts full that day! We thought we were going to have to go and unload the car and come back. We found some great stuff! Oh I should also mention the little finial things on top didn't come with these they are from something else we bought but we thought they looked best on these. The ginger jars are from Hobby Lobby and the ball is something old that we spray painted and used the patina rub n buff on, same with the bird.
This little piece took on quite a transformation too. It was black and we spray painted it a lt blue and glazed it black. Love it!
These beams mimic the mantel.... so grand! Ok there is so much to show in this room and I don't want to keep you forever. I will show you one more part of the room.
And again, a little closer look....
Most of this we bought as is, the chest was painted and the gate too. But look at the details of this piece.
Another great find.. They live close to First Monday Trade days, I think it's considered the biggest flea market in the US. You can find anything there and at great prices. I just love this piece. I wish I had it for my craft room, massive storage people!  Ok, that is it for tonight. I'll show you the rest of the room soon. So what do you think, could you live here?
