Let me just say mine looks nothing like this one but use your imagination and maybe squint your eyes!
Isn't she a beauty!!!! Can't you just see her in a cute little house in the 80's with some modge podge flowers on a basket next to her? (For those of you who do not know what I am talking about maybe I will do a tutorial on it, :)) She's got some beautiful legs, just wait until I take her skirt off!
Here she is after I stripped off about 4 kinds of fabric and removed
So I looked through all of my junk and found this old drawer and thought ah-ha, that would work! So I drilled some wholes for drainage. (That kinda hurt because I didn't want to damage my drawer.)
But it was a good fit and probably wasn't ever going to use the thing anyway. I filled it with some dirt and planted some angelwing begonias, morning glories and blue daze. When I took the chair apart there was some filler dried mossy stuff. They use it for upholstery. Interesting side note. I recently visited Florida and that moss is all over the place. One of the guides on a boat trip told us that in the early 1900's the moss was used to stuff furniture and beds. They later realized it was filled with chiggers! That is where the saying "don't let the bed bugs bite comes from! So hopefully my moss stuff has been around so long that the chiggers are long gone (why am I itching????)
So here is my chair, doesn't look anything like the other chair but it's mine and I love it!
Look at that little creature, isn't he adorable? I hope once everything grows out you won't see the hardware cloth. I'll keep you posted and put up another pic when it grows out! Don't you think she needs a name? Any ideas on what I should call her?
hey that's realllly super cute! (the first chair, the chair that isn't your's? well it kinda gave me the creepies, but YOUR pink chair is totally NON-creepy and ultra cute!)
ReplyDeleteGreat work! :) i think i might try this!
grow baby grow! I am sure it will mature into something beautiful...good work smartie pants!
ReplyDeleteI love pink!!!! The drawer is brilliant! Love it!!!! You rock! This is so much fun seeing what others did with their chair. I love the color choice, much happier than the blue. fun fun fun! x0x0 Pink
ReplyDeleteI just posted this to my facebook page. xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool idea, looks great!
ReplyDeletewow! very interesting! Love the idea!
ReplyDeleteWho knew you were so crafty! The chair was a great find very unique. I have to agree with the creepy comment of the chia chair. I like yours much better,
ReplyDeletePink is perfect! Silly me wouldn't have thought to think about putting the holes in the drawer and my plants would have died! You could even toss in some snap pea flowers that I bet would attach themselves to the wire back of the chair as they grew. What a fun idea that was executed so well!
ReplyDeleteI saw this chair and all the pretties around it and it looks charming...I loved it. In another week or two when he plants take off, it's going to be stunning!
ReplyDeleteI think instead you are Miss Smartie PLANTS. :)
ReplyDeleteReally really cute idea.
ReplyDeleteGreat images, Laura! I love the look of the 'lost chair in the meadow'. :) So cool!

Hi Laura:
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and think the chair is a really neat idea. I'm glad you posted it!
While I was admiring your pictures I was drawn to the crooked geranium terracotta planting that you have next to it. How did you do that?? It’s so whimsical and I would love to have it in my garden!
Ah, I like your garden chair. Bet it's looking great by now, all filled in.
ReplyDeleteGood idea on the drawer.
Wow, good for you, It turned out great! Lezlee
